How to Make the Best Bulletproof Coffee

Published

on

Rise and shine! You’re in for a treat. Coffee is good but, did you know that it can be better and healthier? Introducing bulletproof coffee.

There have been tons of alterations and experimentations regarding its recipe. However, these so-called “enhancements” has made the bulletproof coffee unique and incredibly versatile.

Bulletproof coffee is packed with healthy fats plus its Keto and Paleo-friendly.

What is a Bulletproof Coffee?

Bulletproof coffee is just a usual coffee infused with butter, but not just any type of butter, it must be grass-fed butter. And, for someone who hasn’t tried it, it will honestly sound weird. But did you know that it is packed with nutrients which will highly impact your energy level and cognitive functions?

It was first discovered in Tibet by Dave Asprey. He was amazed by the yak butter tree’s transformative powers and wanted to re-create the ever famous Tibetan tea.

However, he tried experimenting with it until he had the idea of mixing it with high in healthy saturated fats such as grass-fed butter, MCT oil, or ghee with a cup of hot coffee.

The Benefits

Bulletproof coffee is now popular for its health benefits; in fact, most people switch to drinking bulletproof coffee in the morning instead of having the average cup of coffee.

Since its primary ingredient is coffee, this drink is packed with antioxidants which helps remove toxins in your body and fights diseases and it’s also an excellent anti-aging remedy.

Plus, MCT oil is a type of fat which requires less energy and fewer enzymes to break down which is good for digestion, unlike the usual creamer and sugar. It is also good for your gut since it has anti-microbial properties.

It is rich in healthy fats and carbohydrates which are essential for an added energy boost. But, unlike the usual cup of coffee, you wouldn’t feel a sudden energy crash.

Healthy fats from MCT oil is an excellent aid for food cravings. This is why bulletproof coffee is also a healthy drink for weight loss.

It is also one of the perfect drinks for people who are trying Ketogenic Diet since Keto Diets usually consists of low-carb, no sugar, and high in healthy fat.

Bulletproof coffee is very tasty and creamy, just like your usual cappuccino or latte, but healthier!

It helps to stabilize blood sugar levels while keeping your mind sharp and focused. Which makes it perfect for people who are always on the go.

How to make your very own Bulletproof Coffee

You don’t need to spend a lot of money when making your very own bulletproof coffee, and it also not difficult to make.

First, you need this three main ingredients:

  • High-quality coffee, preferably organic
  • Organic or non-organic grass-fed butter
  • MCT oil which is high in C8’s / Organic coconut oil

It is better to opt for high-quality coffee beans instead of purchasing the cheapest ones as your base for your BCP. For it tastes better and you will have a lower risk in encountering microscopic molds in your coffee bean.

When it comes to the butter, you cannot opt for other types of butter other than grass-fed ones because it’s the only type of butter which works well with bulletproof coffee. Plus, other types of butter does not contain high omega fatty acids which are essential for brain function.

MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) oil which aides for enhancing metabolism. However, most people use coconut oil which is also good since it is packed with its health benefits. But, in my opinion, MCT oil is the better choice for your bulletproof coffee mixture.

Optional additional ingredients to spice things up

  • Cinnamon
  • Honey
  • Sugar
  • Pink Salt
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Lavender oil
  • Collagen
  • Turmeric
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Whipping Cream
  • Peanut Butter
  • Mint
  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate / Caramel Syrup

Procedure:

  1. Brew 2 cups or more cups (depending on the number of people drinking it) of hot water with coffee.
  2. Get a slice or two of butter.
  3. 1 to 2 teaspoon of organic coconut oil or MCT oil.
  4. Add your additional/optional ingredients such as cinnamon or cocoa powder
  5. Then blend it together until its smooth and creamy! Voila! Now you have your very own bulletproof coffee.

The Best Hawaiian Pizza Recipe

Published

on

Now this type of pizza is a personal favorite of mine, yet it gets so much hate. Personally, I don’t see why as Hawaiian pizza (pizza with pineapple toppings) is my favorite form of pizza, due to the sweet and savory (if a little tart) taste that it’s trying to accomplish. But at least I get a good helping of Vitamin C from it and it’s vibrant, unlike the bland pepperoni. But I’m not here to bash your culinary tastes, but I’m here to share with you how to make Hawaiian pizza. After all, there must be a reason it’s so popular in the UK and Australia, for instance.

Homemade Hawaiian Pizza

Prep time – Approximately 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza crust*
  •  ¾ cups pizza sauce
  • 1⁄2 – ¾ cup ham, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon onion, chopped
  •  ¾ to 1 cup crushed pineapple/pineapple bits/pineapple slices
  • 3⁄4 cup shredded or diced cheese. You can add different kinds of cheeses as desired, like mozzarella, Monterrey jack or Parmesan)
  • ½ tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
*You can make the pizza crust yourself or you could buy it at the supermarket. Honestly, I recommend personally making your own crust if you want the best quality. The following recipe will show you how to prepare a homemade pizza crust.

Pizza Crust – Ingredients and Method

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • A ½ teaspoon salt
  • A single cup of very warm water (about 50 °C or 122 °F)
  • 3 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil, vegetable oil or regular olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of dry yeast
  • 3 cups of bread flour – you could also substitute all purpose flour
  • Parchment paper sheet, but this is purely optional

Pour the warm water into a bowl with enough space for easy mixing; add the salt, sugar and yeast. Leave it to mix itself for about 10 minutes. Afterwards add the oil and flour and beat/whisk until the mixture is smooth. Place dough on large flat surface, (it’s recommended that the surface itself has flour lightly and evenly sprinkled on it as well to prevent sticking). Knead the dough for about 7 minutes or until evenly flattened.

Now with that out of the way…. let’s move on to the rest of the pizza.

Pizza Filling – Method

  • Preheat Oven to 450 degrees. Spread the sauce evenly over the base of the dough. A substitute to other forms of ham is bacon bits. Canadian bacon is usually used in this case.
  • Put a small amount of chosen cheese shreddings in to a bowl and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle it as evenly as you can on the pizza dough.
  • Repeat that action with the ham, pineapple and onions.
  • Add the leftover cheese on the top and spread the mixture as evenly as possible once more.
  • Place your pizza on parchment paper or a wooden paddle and put it in the center of the oven.
  • Set the timer to 10 minutes. (15 – 20 minutes if the dough is really thick).
  • Safely remove and enjoy!

Now, as it’s largely homemade, you can control exactly what you put inside in terms of fats, carbs and overall calories. For instance, if you’re looking for a healthy alternative to normal table salt, you could consider the slightly more exotic Himalayan pink salt, which is rich in minerals essential to your body.

And that’s just about it! Have you tried making this pizza? Leave a comment and share how it turned out!

The Ultimate Guacamole Recipe

Published

on

Picture this – you’re enjoying the Super Bowl, and it’s down to the last play. It’s you and your buddies’ favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles against the Green Bay Packers. As it’s half-time now, you go to replenish the declining stock of game snacks – you need some more chips and dip to go with your existing food.  Everyone comes to an agreement that guacamole dip would be best suited to go with the game. After all, everyone’s in a fantastic mood, as the Eagles are dominating the championship game. And it’s not just your group – millions of people all over the US consume guacamole. The popular craze has even extended beyond the Super Bowl; guacamole is here to stay.

But why? Why is this food, derived from avocados so popular? Well, aside from the obvious fact that it’s a great combo with your favorite finger foods – which may lead you to be a bit adventurous with that piece of buffalo wings, I won’t judge – it also comes with various health benefits. For starters, it’s packed with Vitamins C and E, as well as a healthy dose of unsaturated fat, which helps to reduce harmful blood cholesterol, and chances of a stroke as a result. Did I mention that avocados – the main component of guacamole – is loaded with fiber, potassium and anti-carcinogens? That’s pretty impressive for some simple dip. But enough of the super-awesome powers of guacamole for now. How would you like to create some kick-ass dip for your next get-together? You can even make it for yourself and pair it with some Netflix and chill. Check out The Ultimate Guacamole Recipe below!

The Ultimate Guacamole Recipe

Prep time – Approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • At least 3 avocados that have been halved, seeded and peeled
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • ½ teaspoon of kosher salt
  • a half teaspoon of ground cumin
  • ½ tsp. of high quality cayenne pepper
  • ½ of a medium onion, diced
  • ½ of a jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro, otherwise known as coriander
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Method

Prepare a large bowl, then place the avocado pulp and lime juice, toss to coat. Drain the mixture, then reserve the lime juice after all the avocados have been coated.

Next, use a potato masher to purée the salt, cumin and cayenne pepper. Fold in the tomatoes, cilantro, onions and garlic.

Afterwards, add 1 tablespoon of the reserved lime juice, then let sit at room temperature for approximately an hour. Serve when ready.

And that’s it! Personally, I like my guacamole chilled, but I think I’m the minority with that view.

As for applications, it’s a bit of an unspoken rule that guacamole goes great which chips, as I’ve outlined in the beginning, but did you know you can always enjoy it with a nice, cold beer? It can do wonders as a quick snack, after all. Now for some additional nutritional facts with this recipe.

Although it’s a quick recipe, it has a healthy amount of calories, with 172. It has no cholesterol, 2 grams of sugar and up to 11 grams of fiber. It’s also only 2 grams of saturated fat, making it not only a yummy snack, but a healthy one.

With that said, the next time you’re having a party, why not whip up a big bowl of guacamole? With this recipe, you’ll be the talk of the town for quite some time!
